Банк Англии, центральный банк страны, объявил о планах по кардинальному преобразованию системы расчетов. Новая реформа позволит частным платежным системам, созданным с использованием технологии блокчейн, напрямую работать с центральным банком.
План изменений в банковской системе представил управляющий Банка Англии Марк Карни (Mark Carney) во время выступления в официальной резиденции в Лондоне. «Амбициозная перестройка» системы транзакций в реальном времени (RTGS) станет «основой всех платежей в Великобритании».
Обновленная система RTGS позволит частным платежным платформам напрямую подключаться к системе центрального банка, даже для трансграничных платежей. Карни особо отметил платформы, использующие распределенную регистрационную технологию (DLT), которая сможет обеспечить подключение к сети банка.
«…новая, жесткая инфраструктура открывает целый ряд потенциальных инноваций на оптовых рынках, а также рынках корпоративных банковских и розничных услуг. Доступ к деньгам центрального банка больше не будет эксклюзивным правом отдельных банков», — подчеркнул Карни.
Несмотря на эту растущую открытость для DLT, глава Банка Англии остался одним из самых горячих критиков биткоина. Ранее в этом году он сказал, что флагманская криптовалюта вместе с альткоинами «терпит неудачу» в качестве валюты и должна быть ограничена нормативными правилами.
