По сообщениям информированных источников Комиссия по ценным бумагам и биржам SEC США активизировала сбор информации о компаниях, проводящих ICO. Финансовый регулятор выдал многочисленные повестки участникам программ первичного размещения монет.
SEC активизирует проверки ICO
Агентство выдало несколько десятков повесток, адресованных не только организаторам стартапов, но и юристам, обслуживающим проекты. По мнению экспертов, основной задачей регулятора является выявление фактов мошеннических схем при проведении ICO.
Повестки были выданы компаниям, которые уже подали заявки на первичное размещение монет. Адвокаты ICO также вызываются для дачи показаний, так как они могли способствовать потенциальным нарушениям в финансовой сфере.
Глава SEC Джей Клейтон (Jay Clayton) косвенным образом комментировал выдачу повесток на недавнем слушании в Сенате по криптовалютам. Тогда он отмечал, что позиция агентства подтверждена документально и его сотрудники:
«…будут продолжать активно защищать (финансовые) рынки и проводить расследование в отношении тех, кто ведет ICO … в нарушение федеральных законов о ценных бумагах».
Реакция организаторов ICO
Представители стартапов немедленно отреагировали на выдачу многочисленных повесток. Член совета директоров блокчейн компании Symbiont Дэн Галлахер отметил, что это только начало, впереди отрасль ждет более жесткое регулирование.
По данным исследовательского центра MIT, в настоящее время уже известно о нескольких мошеннических ICO, собравших в ходе первичного размещения средства инвесторов на более чем 300 млн долларов.
Между тем в самом SEC уже заявили, что многие компании переносят начало ICO в связи с активизацией работы контролирующих органов.
