Резкие колебания курса биткоина на прошлой неделе во многом были спровоцированы сообщением о возможной продаже попечителями обанкротившейся токийской биржи Mt Gox оставшихся в их распоряжении 162 000 биткоинов, на общую сумму 1,8 миллиарда долларов США.
В настоящий момент ответственным за возмещение убытков клиентов является Нобуаки Кобаяши (Nobuaki Kobayashi), адвокат, возглавляющий попечительский совет Mt Gox. Пока нет твердой уверенности, что Кобаяши сможет продать запасы биткоинов до очередного судебного заседания по делу о банкротстве Mt Gox, запланированном на 26 сентября 2018 года.
Тем не менее, сам Кобаяши уверен в праве реализовать BTC по собственному усмотрению. Полученные от реализации деньги будут направлены на компенсации пострадавших клиентов Mt Gox. Поэтому участники рынка обеспокоены тем фактом, что Кобаяши может выставить ордера на продажу по выгодной цене в районе 11 500 долларов за BTC, что приведет к очередному падению курса криптовалюты.
