Крупнейшая южнокорейская криптобиржа Bithumb подтвердила потерю $31.4 млн. в результате хакерской атаки и пообещала компенсировать клиентам все потери.
В заявлении, опубликованном 21 июня, биржа сообщила, что начинает процесс восстановления, и потери от кибератаки могут значительно уменьшиться. По словам официальных лиц, Bithumb сокращает количество потерь с помощью аварийного восстановления. Окончательные цифры потерь должны быть ниже озвученных сегодня.
Bithumb, шестая в мире биржа по объемам торговли, объявила о хакерской атаке в среду.
Последние события означают дальнейшие трудности для компании, подвергавшейся множеству атак в 2017-м, и для растущего криптовалютного сектора Южной Кореи. Ранее в июне криптовалютный оператор Coinrail потерял из-за хакеров $40 млн.
Перед нынешней атакой Bithumb согласилась заплатить властям $28 миллионов налогов задним числом. Почти точное совпадение сумм вызвало подозрение у некоторых комментаторов.
