«Помню, как я размышлял: “Как объяснить маме, что я вложил $25 000 в DOGE?”. Из интересного в ней — логотип собаки. Но, конечно, это была одна из лучших инвестиций, которые я когда-либо делал», — заявил он.
Бутерин был застигнут врасплох спекулятивным ажиотажем из-за твитов Илона Маска о мем-криптовалюте. На тот момент он находился на изоляции в Сингапуре, когда цена DOGE за один день выросла на 775%.
Половину монет он продал и пожертвовал $4,3 млн прибыли некоммерческой организации GiveDirectly.
Таже Бутерин не считает, что Маска совершает «изощренную злонамеренность». По его словам, бизнесмен — «просто человек, которому нравятся собаки».
Он подчеркнул, что Tesla и SpaceX придется в какой-то момент принять Ethereum, если они хотят остаться в криптовалютной экосистеме.
«Биткоин — блокчейн для денег, а Ethereum — создавался как блокчейн общего назначения», — сказал он.
На это Маск ответил, что «практически полностью» согласен со словами Бутерина. Он не уточнил, что именно имеет в виду.
