С запуском нулевой фазы дальнейшая работа системы подлежит аудиту и тестированию. Только после этого и утверждения спецификаций в ходе первой фазы может быть осуществлено полное слияние двух систем, когда необходимость в отдельной цепи на используемом сегодня алгоритме Proof-of-Work отпадёт.
Затем настанет черёд второй и третьей стадий, однако они в дорожной карте Бутерина пока существуют в виде абстрактных этапов.
Представленная дорожная карта является результатом исследовательской деятельности на протяжении двух лет. Она знаменует собой переход к более предметной работе.
Бутерин добавил, что сейчас ещё вносится множество изменений в целях снижения сложности системы. Исследования продолжаются, однако основные вопросы теперь связаны с разработкой. Со временем их доля будет только расти.
