Комиссия по торговле товарными фьючерсами США (CFTC) заключила в тюрьму и оштрафовала торговца криптовалютой за использование мошеннической схемы при проведении операций с биткоином и Litecoin, сообщает Coindesk.
Житель Аризоны Джозеф Ким, признался, что обманывал инвесторов на сотни тысяч долларов и присвоил более 600 000 долларов средств прежнего работодателя из Чикаго. В период с сентября по ноябрь 2017 года Ким перевел на свои личные счета криптовалюту номинированную в биткоинах и Litecoin на сумму 601 тысячу со счетов компании, где он работал, мотивируя требованиями безопасности. После обнаружения кражи он был уволен.
Далее горе трейдер начал привлекать клиентов в частном порядке для взаиморасчета с бывшим работодателем. Он сумел собрать 545 тысяч долларов от пяти инвесторов. CFTC наложила на Кима штраф в сумме 1 млн 146 тысяч долларов, приговорила к 15 месяцам тюремного заключения и навсегда запретила вести торговую деятельность, в том числе и криптовалютой.
Напомним, полиция РФ задержала около 20 членов банды, которая распространяла наркотики, принимая в качестве оплаты криптовалюту.
