Но согласно информации CTO Casa Джеймсона Лоппа, показателя в 18,9 млн добытых монет биткоин достиг только через 32 блока. Вся причина в том, что некоторые первые майнеры не востребовали вознаграждение.
Именно это стало причиной того, что общее предложение криптовалюты не будет равно 21 млн BTC, как предусмотрено алгоритмом.
Вдобавок к этому специалисты Chainalysis посчитали, что 3,79 млн BTC могут быть утрачены навсегда. В теории эти монеты существуют, однако не участвуют в обороте.
Порядка 1 млн BTC хранится на адресах, которые связывают с создателем первой криптовалюты Сатоши Накамото. Биткоины были добыты на ранних этапах развития сети и с тех пор не перемещались.
