Alex Mashinsky lied to people about the risks of investing in Celsius, hid its deteriorating financial condition, and failed to register in New York.

«Машинский неоднократно делал ложные и вводящие в заблуждение заявления о безопасности Celsius […], исказил и скрыл ухудшающееся финансовое состояние [платформы]», — сказано в пресс-релизе ведомства.
Требование к экс-главе компании — возместить убытки и вернуть средства клиентам. Также есть требование о запрете на ведение бизнеса в штате. В сообщении отмечается, что иск подан «от имени тысяч жителей Нью-Йорка».
«Как бывший генеральный директор Celsius, Алекс Машинский обещал инвесторам финансовую свободу, но привел их на путь финансового краха», — добавили власти.
Напомним, 13 июня 2022 года криптокредитор приостановил вывод средств, обмен и переводы между аккаунтами. Через месяц платформа подала заявление о несостоятельности согласно Главе 11 Кодекса США о банкротстве. В сентябре Машинский покинул пост гендиректора Celsius.
Как сообщают специалисты Financial Times, на конец декабря расходы Celsius на ведение дела, оплату юристов и консультантов достигли $53 млн.
