Управление по финансовому регулированию и надзору Великобритании (FCA) подтвердило информацию о начале расследования деятельности 24 несанкционированных компаний, работающих на криптовалютном рынке. Главной целью проводимого расследования является «определение факта осуществления компаниями действий, требующих разрешения FCA».
В случае выявления таких действий FCA продолжит расследование, «…применит необходимые меры, выявит и определит важные аспекты деятельности, представляющие наибольший риск для потребителей».
Отвечая на запрос о свободе доступа к информации, регулирующий орган подтвердил, что в 2018 году были открыты семь отчетов об осведомителях, связанных с криптовалютными предприятиями.
В марте уходящий председатель FCA Джон Гриффит-Джонс (John Griffith-Jones) предупредил, что криптовалютные активы могут нанести ущерб потребителям, если они не будут регулироваться. Действия, которые может предпринять FCA варьируются от опубликования предупреждения потребителям через веб-сайт FCA, чтобы информировать их о конкретном физическом или юридическом лице до подачи иска в гражданский суд для приостановки деятельности компании и заморозки активов.
