Как сообщают источники издания The Bell Korea, владельцы компании Bithumb Holdings активно пытаются продать свои доли в компании, а Huobi заинтересована в покупке местной регулируемой биржи, благодаря чему компания усилит свои позиции в Южной Корее.
О желании Bithumb продать свой бизнес, стало известно еще в сентябре. По оценкам самой биржи, стоимость компании — 500-700 млрд южнокорейских вон ($450-630 млн по текущему курсу). Известно, что поиски покупателя проводила аудиторская компания Samjong KPMG.
Это не первый раз, когда бизнес Bithumb выставляется на продажу. В 2018 году биржу пытался приобрести сингапурский консорциум BK Global Consortium. Последний собирался заплатить за Bithumb 400 млрд вон (примерно $360 млн), однако сделка сорвалась — председатель BK Ким Бен Ген не смог собрать необходимую сумму денег.
Huobi уже работает на южнокорейском рынке, однако не удовлетворяет требования местных регулирующих органов, которые постановили, что компании, предлагающие услуги по обмену криптовалюты на фиатные деньги, должны иметь доступ к банковским каналам через подтверждение личности по реальным именам владельцев счетов.
Только четыре криптовалютные биржи (в Южной Корее ) смогли в полной мере выполнить требования регулятора: Bithumb, Upbit, Coinone и Kobit.
Huobi рассчитывает решить эту проблему посредством приобретения Bithumb. Неизвестно, насколько далеко стороны продвинулись по части утверждения сделки. Ее стоимость также не разглашается.
Также в Twitter китайский журналист Колин Ву пишет, что помимо сделки с Bithumb, Huobi рассматривает покупку японской биржи Bitflyer.
