Среди первых, кто сообщил о проблеме, был агрегатор Coinmarketcap. На странице Bitgrin было опубликовано предупреждение о «миллиардах выпущенных токенов». Со времене оказалось, что к ситуации причастен разработчик проекта, Фаразен. Он сообщил, что монеты удалось добыть из-за неполадки сети, но все монеты достались ему.
Фаразен также утверждает, что перевел 5 млрд токенов на адрес, к которому ни он, ни любой другой человек из команды не имеет доступа. Но этот факт невозможно доказать. Чтобы убедить пользователей в устранении момент, разработчик пообещал провести хардфорк.
