Управляющие центробанков и министры финансов G7 полагают, что Libra, как и прочие криптовалюты, вызывает ряд опасений. Мнучин и его коллеги хотят, чтобы эти сомнения были устранены. После этого они не будут препятствовать развитию криптоиндустрии.
Как впечатлить Мнучина?
Она должна следовать тем же правилам, что и поставщики услуг в сфере фиатных денег. В качестве образца регулирования министр финансов США упомянул закон «О банковской тайне» и требования Сети по борьбе с финансовыми преступлениями (FinCEN).
Минфин США сформировал рабочую группу, которая уже более года работает над данным вопросом. Мнучин признал, что распределённый реестр нашёл «очевидные области применения». Возглавляемое им ведомство полностью поддерживает инновации в сфере финансов и всё, что может снизить стоимость платежей. 
Основная проблема заключается в том, что криптовалюты могут использоваться для финансирования терроризма и отмывания денег.
