Предварительная продажа национальной криптовалюты Венесуэлы Petro, по заявлению правительства, уже привлекла около 3 млрд долларов от инвесторов из 127 стран. По истечении всего недели после представления криптовалюты, обеспеченной нефтью, проведено свыше 171 тысячи сертифицированных сделок.
Структура предварительных продаж Petro
На официальном сайте президента Венесуэлы Николаса Мадуро сообщается, что основная часть предварительной продажи проводится в фиатных валютах: в долларах – 40,8 % и в евро – 6,5 %. В криптовалютах структура продаж такова: биткоин – 33,8% и ефириум – 18,4 %. В юанях заключено 0,2 % сделок.
По информации правительства страны предложение о покупке поступило от 87 284 инвесторов, среди которых 3523 компании и 83 761 частное лицо. Обнародованы и страны наиболее активно участвующие в первом этапе пресейла Petro: Германия, Саудовская Аравия, Австралия, Испания, США, Франция и другие, всего 127 стран.

Между тем по заявлению директора Латиноамериканского департамента МИД России Александра Щетинина:
«…требуется тщательное изучение Petro, прежде чем Россия примет участие в его размещении».
Польша также опровергла данные о заинтересованности страны в приобретении венесуэльской национальной криптовалюты.
Заявление о начале предварительной продажи Petro, национальной криптовалюты, поддерживаемой нефтью Венесуэлы, было опубликовано 20 февраля 2018 года. Предварительная продажа должна продлиться 30 дней. Далее будет проведено 15-ти дневное ICO цифрового актива. Планируется, что полученные в результате выпуска Petro инвестиции будут направлены на стабилизацию финансового состояния страны.
