По словам одного из майнеров, назвавшим себя Беном, он занимается майнингом с 2015 года и располагает 6000 устройств. После начала репрессий со стороны властей Бен распределил оборудование по множеству объектов, чтобы не выделяться в сети слишком высоким энергопотреблением.
Но даже меры предосторожности не помогли ему уйти от обнаружения властями. Бен говорит, что майнинг отслеживает по подозрительному трафику одна из крупнейших телекоммуникационных компаний China Telecom. Она передает информацию о возможных нарушениях центральному правительству, откуда ее направляют на уровни муниципалитетов.
Согласно информации работающей в сфере кибербезопасности китайской компании Qihoo 360, в ноябре для майнинга ежедневно использовались 109 000 IP-адресов. Ключевые центры активности – в провинциях Гуандун, Цзянсу, Чжэцзян и Шаньдун.
По мнению вице-президента Foundry Кевина Чжана доля Китая в хешрейте биткоина упадет до 5%.
