Головний юрисконсульт Coinbase Пол Гревал пояснив, що відповідне повідомлення не є офіційним звинуваченням чи ініціюванням судового процесу. Такі дії можливі лише за умови неусунення претензій щодо можливого порушення законів про цінні папери.
Та попри це, торги акціями компанії 22 березня було завершено падінням на 8,16%.
«Лист не містить детальної інформації, на яку ми могли б відреагувати. Чиновники повідомили, що виявили потенційні порушення законодавства про цінні папери, але не більше того», — додав Гревал.
Топменеджер запевнив, що біржа продовжить працювати у звичайному режимі.
Головний юрисконсульт підкреслив, що платформа не порушує ніяких законів.
Позов проти Джастіна Сана
Комісія з цінних паперів та бірж США (SEC) звинуватила засновника Tron Джастіна Сана та три його компанії у незареєстрованій пропозиції цінних паперів у вигляді токенів Tron (TRX) та BitTorrent (BTT).

Регулятор також вважає, що Сан та його компанії Tron Foundation, BitTorrent Foundation та Rainberry (раніше BitTorrent) маніпулювали вторинним ринком TRX за допомогою «маніпулятивної торгівлі».
Згідно з заявою, обвинувачені залучити у рекламну схему низку знаменитосте. У зв’язку з цим SEC звинуватила у незаконному просуванні TRX та/або BTT:
- актрису Ліндсі Лохан;
- відеоблогера Джейка Пола;
- реперів Akon (Аліан Тіам) та Soulja Boy (Деандре Кортес Уей);
- співаків Остіна Махоуна та Ні-Йо;
- порнозірку Кендре Ласт (Мішель Мейсон);
- хіп-хоп виконавця Lil Yachty (Майлз Паркс Макколум).
За винятком Махоуна та Soulja Boy, зірки погодилися на врегулювання претензій, виплативши $400 000 у вигляді відшкодування, штрафів та відсотків не визнаючи та не заперечуючи висновків Комісії.
