Комиссия по ценным бумагам США объявила о блокировке активов компании Modern Money Team на сумму в $12 млн.
Modern Money Team – это многоуровневая маркетинговая компания, предоставляющая услуги для торговли на рынках Forex и майнинга криптовалюты. Причиной санкций стало обвинение в организации и отмывании денег и нецелевом использовании инвестиций.
Обвинение выдвинуто против троих основателей бизнеса. Они проходят по делу о незаконном присвоении средств и нецелесообразной трате инвестиций.
В пояснительной записке от SEC указано, что соучредителями была организована мошенническая бизнес-модель по торговле опционами и валютами на рынке Forex, а также организовано предоставление услуг по майнингу криптовалют. За доступ к функционалу компания получала деньги, а также покупала майнинг-устройства для своего пула.
В жалобе также указано, что юрист компании Пауль Рамирес контролировал счет на Bitfinex, на котором было собрано 260 BTC инвестиций. Но на самом деле на балансе никогда не было суммы больше 50 BTC. Чтобы отвести подозрения инвесторов, Рамирес иногда делал переводы на этот кошелек, предоставляя отчеты инвесторам.
Вначале владельцы Modern Money Team пытались отрицать всю информацию, но SEC смогла найти их переписки в WhatsApp. В одном из сообщений была фраза «Мы или в тюрьму, или в отставку в этом году».
