26 июня сенаторы США провели слушания, посвященные проблеме влияния иностранных государств при помощи криптовалюты на американские выборы. Слушания прошли в подкомитете Сената по борьбе с преступностью и терроризмом. По заявлению одного из экспертов, представших перед сенаторами, виртуальные валюты были «специально разработаны» для оказания влияния на выборную систему США.
Анонимность цифровых валют вредит выборам
Директор аналитической компании DarkTower Скотт Дуйкеке (Scott Dueweke) считает, что законодатели должны сосредоточиться на решениях проблемы идентификации для предотвращения чрезмерного иностранного влияния на предстоящие выборы.
«Под прикрытием анонимности ведется игра, целью которой является обход финансовых правил во время выборов», — заявил эксперт.
В результате иностранные государства могут покупать политическую рекламу и жертвовать определенным сторонам в попытках повлиять на выборы. В процессе «множественного обмена фиата на криптовалюту невозможно отслеживать источники финансирования».
Также на слушаниях отмечалась возможность использования иностранными организациями цифровых денег при пожертвовании политическим партиям или политикам. Сенаторы считают, что законодательство должно обеспечить более строгие правила идентификации для лиц, жертвующих средства на политические кампании.
Напомним, в середине марта Конгресс США обсудил проблемы ICO и криптовалют.
