Планировалось проведение торгов 23 февраля. Аукционный дом прогнозировал, что цена продажи составит $20-$30 млн.
Но в канун старта торгов коллекционер снял лот с продажи и заявил:

Вслед за этим он опубликовал серию мемов, сначала намекнув на нежелание продавать активы на фоне падения цены. После пользователь 0x650d дал понять, что «кинув» Sotheby’s с аукционом он выводит CryptoPunks в мейнстрим.
