Совместным решением Минюст США и прокуратура по Южному округу Калифорнии ликвидируют криптоактивы на сумму $56 млн, конфискованные у бывшего директора и промоутера мошеннической схемы BitConnect Гленна Аркаро. Вырученные средства направят на компенсацию пострадавшим инвесторам.
Эту продажу уже называют крупнейшим разовым возмещением ущерба от криптовалютного мошенничества.
На данный момент ведомство разыскивает жертв схемы BitConnect. Компенсация будут производиться в соответствии с будущим судебным постановлением о реституции в рамках оглашения приговора Гленну Аркаро.
Судебное заседание назначено на 7 января 2022 года. Подсудимый может получить максимальное наказание в виде 20 лет тюрьмы.
