В Сальвадоре намерены принять закон, который сделает первую криптовалюту легальной формой денег. Об этом заявил президент Наиб Букеле в ходе конференции Bitcoin 2021, пишет Bitcoin Magazine.
«На следующей неделе я направлю в конгресс законопроект, который сделает биткоин законным средством платежа», — сказал Букеле.
Советником в этом вопросе выступил основатель платежной платформы Strike на основе решения Lightning Network Джек Маллерс. Он же был организатором презентации.
“70% активного населения Сальвадора не владеют банковскими счетами. Они не участвуют в финансовой системе и попросили меня помочь написать план, поскольку рассматривают биткоин как валюту мирового класса”, — пояснил Маллерс.
Также добавил, что страна уже работает с биткоин-компаниями и платформами над определением логистических решений для перехода на криптовалюту.
Напомним, что с 2001 года Сальвадор отказался от национальной денежной единицы и использует доллар США. На противовес классической системе есть местные сообщества, которые выстроили биткоин-экономику.
