Компания Peninsula Visa, занимающаяся паспортным обслуживанием жителей США, открыла прием платежей в BTC.
Для обработки платежей в криптовалюте используется сервис Coinbase Commerce.
Держатели BTC могут оплатить услуги и продлить действие паспорта, поменять имя и получить второй паспорт. А уже в 2021 году запланировано активировать услуги, связанные с выдачей новых паспортов и виз.
«До этого расплатиться за американский паспорт цифровой валютой никогда еще не было возможно», – говорит операционный директор Peninsula Visa Эван Джеймс.
Также добавил, что на решение о переводе платежей в цифровую форму повлияла пандемия коронавируса.
А в июне попытку использовать BTC в качестве метода оплаты при оформлении паспортов предприняли власти Венесуэлы.

Но уже через несколько часов после введения сервиса, возможность оплаты в BTC исчезла с сайта.
