VersaBank Inc (Канада) планирует предоставить клиентам высокотехнологичное цифровое хранилище для криптовалюты и иных цифровых активов. Инициатива исходит от директора Дэвида Тейлора, являющегося большим поклонников новых технологий, самолетов и мотоциклов.
В отличие от традиционных финансовых институтов, которые крайне неохотно принимают участие в операциях с криптовалютами, канадский банк является лидером в мировой банковской системе по внедрению новых технологий. Уже к июню 2018 года VersaBank разработает собственное цифровое хранилище, позволяющее клиентам обезопасить сбережения в цифровой валюте.
Дэвид Тейлор, комментируя инициативу своего банка, отметил:
«Мы выполняем традиционные для банковской организации функции – обеспечение безопасного хранения средств клиента. Однако мы понимаем, что физическое хранение активов в сейфах, расположенных в подвалах банков, теряет свою актуальность. В настоящее время большая часть активов клиентов располагается в цифровой валюте или смарт контрактах».
Для выполнения поставленной задачи VersaBank принял на работу специалиста в области кибернетического шифрования и безопасности Гурприт Сахоту (Gurpreet Sahota), ранее работавшего в компании BlackBerry Ltd.
Принцип цифрового хранилища будет соответствовать традиционным банковским правилам. Цифровое хранилище VersaVault будет также сохранять тайну вкладов, как и банковские ячейки. Представители банка не узнают, какая криптовалюта и в каком объеме находится в «цифровой депозитной ячейке клиента».
VersaBank обладает рыночной капитализацией в 158 млн долларов и управляет активами в 1,7 млрд долларов. В прошлом году акции банка выросли на 19 процентов, а в этом уже показали рост на 24 процента, что является рекордом для Канады.
