Американская турфирма CWT сообщила о выплате 414 BTC хакерам, которые заполучили пакет конфиденциальной информации.
Хакеры использовали вирус-вымогатель Ragnar Locker, шифрующий данные на ПК жертвы. Также злоумышленники сообщили, что похитили 2 Тб информации, включая финансовые отчеты и документы сотрудников фирмы с документами по безопасности клиентов.
Изначальная сумма требований составила $10 млн в BTC за программу – дешифровщик.
«Это в разы меньше, чем судебные иски и испорченная репутация из-за утечки», — написали хакеры.
Представитель компании CWT уговорил их снизить сумму до $4,5 млн. Как сообщили в Reuters, компания сразу же уведомила о произошедшем правоохранителей США и европейские органы по защите данных.
