Японская компания DMM.com Inc сворачивает работу подразделения, занимающегося добычей криптовалюты. Гигант индустрии развлечений и электронной коммерции, по сообщению местного информационного агентства Toyo Keizai, в последний день уходящего года принял решение о выходе из майнингового бизнеса в первом квартале 2019 года. Основной причиной является снижение рентабельности.
Основатель DMM Кейси Камеяма (Keishi Kameyama) заявил 31 декабря, что в будущем «…он будет усердно работать над развитием криптовалютной биржи и внедрением технологии блокчейн». Дочерняя компания корпорации DMM.com Inc — DMM Bitcoin является одной из 16 регулируемых криптовалютных бирж в Японии.
Компания объявила о создании майнингового подразделения в сентябре 2017 года и начала добычу в японском городе Канадзава в октябре. Компания занималась добычей биткоина, эфириума и LItecoin. В первоначальные планы DMM входило создание самой крупной майнинговой компании в Японии и вхождение в тройку мировых лидеров по добыче цифровых денег.
Напомним, на прошлой неделе японская корпорация GMO Internet сообщила о выходе из бизнеса по производству и продаже майнингового оборудования. Добыча цифровых валют компанией будет продолжена, но переориентирована на более дешевые источники энергии, предпочтительно возобновляемые и экологически безопасные.
