Председатель и главный исполнительный директор Goldman Sachs Ллойд Бланкфейн (Lloyd Blankfein) заявил, что биткоин — «…это не для меня». Главная в мире криптовалюта не представляет интереса для главы крупнейшей банковской организации США. В своем выступлении в Экономическом клубе Нью-Йорка банкир отметил:
«Я этим не занимаюсь, я не владею биткоином».
Примечательно, что Бланкфейн длительное время придерживается консервативного взгляда на новые финансовые инструменты. Аналогичное мнение он высказывал в прошлом году во время безудержного ралли биткоина. Однако в настоящее время Goldman Sachs находится в стадии проработки проектов, связанных с использованием криптовалютных активов. Кроме того в банке активно инвестируют в развитие технологии блокчейн, лежащей в основе виртуальных валют. 
Инвестиционный банковский гигант, по сведениям New York Times, разработал планы проведения операций по торговле фьючерсами на биткоин. В настоящее время Goldman Sachs ожидает «…одобрения регулирующих органов — Федерального Резерва и властей Нью-Йорка».
Ранее Бланкфейн высказывался о том, что чувствует «дискомфорт» по отношению к биткоину, однако он открыт для принятия новых финансовых инструментов в будущем. Если биткоин станет успешным, Бланкфейн может принять его как естественную эволюцию денег.
Напомним, в декабре 2018 года генеральный директор Goldman Sachs Ллойд Бланкфейн планирует выйти в отставку.
