Японская ассоциация бирж виртуальных валют (JVCEA), регулирующий орган, аккредитованный Агентством финансовых услуг (FSA), объявила 2 марта, что три компании, включая Coinbase Corporation, были аккредитованы и отнесены ко II классу учреждений.

Членами второго класса стали три компании: Coinbase, Digital Asset Markets и Tokyo Hash. В момент создания JVCEA состояла только из уполномоченных Агентством финансовых услуг в качестве постоянных членов – криптовалютных бирж или компаний по торговле и обмену виртуальных валют. Однако в октябре 2018 года Ассоциация начала принимать членов второго класса.
Круг компаний соответствующий требованиям для регистрации была расширена для создания отраслевой ассоциации способствующей «разумному развитию бизнеса по обмену виртуальных валют и защите пользователей бизнеса по обмену виртуальных валют».
Члены класса II представляют собой группу «предприятий, которые подают заявки или намерены подать заявку на регистрацию в сфере обмена виртуальной валюты, предписанную статьей 63-3 Закона об урегулировании фондов».
Особый интерес представляет регистрация в качестве члена второго класса Coinbase, крупнейшей американской биржи. Это первый значительный прогресс за последние два года после объявления о выходе компании на рынок Японии 4 июня 2018 года.
