Против Ripple Labs и CEO компании Брэда Гарлингхауса подан иск со стороны жителя Флориды, в котором он обвинил ответчиков в нарушении законодательства штата о ценных бумагах и незаконном обогащении.
Тайлер Туми считает, что ответчики знали, что токен XRP является ценной бумагой, но вводили инвесторов в заблуждение ложными заявлениями.
По мнению Туми, Ripple не зарегистрировалась в Управлении финансового регулирования Флориды перед продажей токена жителям штата, а поскольку объем продаж составил «миллионы долларов», то ответчики получили незаконную прибыль.
135 XRP приобрел Туми в ноябре 2020 года за $97,80. В декабре продал токены двумя партиями с убытком в $48,56 или почти 50%.
Цель иска – возмещение убытков и судебных расходов, а также признания ответчиков виновными в нарушении перечисленных в иске правил, получение ими соответствующих штрафов и запрета на дальнейшую деятельность.
