Казначейство США объявило о введении первых в истории санкций против двух биткоин-адресов, а также против двух иранцев, ассоциированных с этими адресами, за содействие в совершении кибератак и требовании выкупа.
Управление по контролю за иностранными активами полагает, что два иранца – Али Хорашадизаде (Ali Khorashadizadeh) и Мохаммед Горбанян (Mohammed Ghorbaniyan) помогали конвертировать биткоины, полученные в качестве выкупа, в иранские риалы. Биткоины стоимостью в миллионы долларов были переведены на упомянутые выше два адреса, хотя, как признали в Казначействе, не все они обязательно связаны с кибератаками.
«Казначейство ищет граждан, обменивавших криптовалюту и помогавших иранцам извлечь выгоду из платежей, полученных от жертв путем вымогательства, – заявила заместитель главы Казначейства по вопросам терроризма и финансовой разведки Сигал Мэнделкер (Sigal Mandelker). – В то время как Иран оказывается во все большей изоляции, в том числе и от доллара США, очень важно, чтобы биржи виртуальных валют и другие провайдеры сетей цифровых валют боролись с этими незаконными схемами».
Кибератаки, о которых идет речь, по мнению Казначейства, были частью международной схемы, известной как «SamSam», которая инфицировала сети данных в США, Великобритании и Канаде начиная с 2015 года.
Казначейство предполагает, что два иранцы взаимодействовали с более 40 обменщиками криптовалют, включая некоторых в США. Согласно закону о санкциях, все имущество тех, кто под них попадает, переходит под контроль Соединенных Штатов, и гражданам или жителям США запрещено иметь дело с гражданами, находящимися под санкциями.
