Эта технология представляет собой генератор случайных чисел. Он станет составной частью сети Ethereum 2.0. В ней будет использоваться альтернативный механизм консенсуса Proof-of-Stake.

Его задействуют для выполнения процедуры под названием функция доказуемого запаздывания (англ. — Verifiable Delay Function). С её помощью перемешивается порядок валидаторов. В новой системе Ethereum они должны заменить майнеров.
Это делается для того, чтобы не допустить объединения полномочий нескольких. Таким образом, они смогут получить контроль над системой.
По словам Дрейка, стоимость проекта составит от $20 млн до $30 млн. $15-20 млн потратят на исследования и разработку, $5 млн — на выпуск 5000 устройств.
Ethereum Foundation и Filecoin, проведя в прошлом году ICO, собрали $250 млн. Они планируют поровну разделить затраты на реализацию нового проекта. К финансированию могут быть привлечены и сторонние проекты.
