Если регулятор примет позитивное решение насчет выпуска CBDC, Банк Англии не планирует создавать кошелек для розничных сценариев использования национальной цифровой валюты. Такую информацию изданию The Block сообщила старший менеджер подразделения CBDC регулятора Кэти Форчун.
«Уверена, что выпуск [Банком Англии] розничного кошелька маловероятен», — сказала она.
Также Форчун добавила, что намного быстрее подобные продукты будут разработаны частным сектором.
На данный момент Банк Англии не имеет окончательного решения о запуске CBDC. До конца 2022 года ЦБ совместно с Министерством финансов Великобритании проведет общественные консультации на эту тему.
По словам Форчун, львиная доля техаспектов нового инструмента еще не согласованы. И до сегодня не ясно, будет ли CBDC базироваться на технологии блокчейн.
«Для нас это все еще открытый вопрос. Не считается само собой разумеющимся, что инструмент будет построен на блокчейне, но и не считается, что нет», — сказала Форчун.
Регулятор собирает мнения специалистов из числа представителей банков, финтех-компаний и ученых.
Вдобавок Форчун сказала, что национальная цифровая валюта Великобритании увидит свет не ранее 2025 года.
